Editorial policy
How we research, write, check and update every guide and calculator.
SolarCalcLab content is researched, written and fact-checked by the SolarCalcLab Editorial Team. This policy explains the standards we hold ourselves to.
Accuracy first
- We check facts, figures, rules and prices against primary sources: government agencies, regulators, standards bodies and national laboratories.
- We link the sources we relied on at the end of every guide and calculator.
- We do not invent statistics, quotes, test results or personal experience. Examples that use made-up numbers are labeled as illustrative.
Independence
Our calculators and guides are not paid placements. If we ever earn a commission from a link, we will label it clearly, and it will not change a calculation or a recommendation.
Updates and corrections
Solar incentives, tariffs and rules change often. We review guides when the rules they cover change and show the date each page was last updated. When we correct a meaningful error, we fix it promptly and note the change on the page.
Use of AI tools
We may use software, including AI tools, to help with research, drafting and checking arithmetic. A person on the editorial team reviews the work, checks it against sources and is responsible for what we publish.
